Great start to the public realm project at Mermaid Quay. All the site preparation, compound and site office set up has now been completed and we are now moving forward with the construction stages apace. The removal of the existing block paviours from Stuart and Bute Street has started and the laying of the replacement paviours is due to commence shortly.
The works are just the first stages of an exciting refurbishment of the public areas at Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay’s waterfront dining and leisure destination. We have been working closely with the Project Managers, JLL Building Consultancy and Managing Agents, CBRE to deliver the transformation which in addition to the new paving, includes new lighting, wayfinding and signage, seating and planting and more – you can see more details about the project here: lnkd.in/d3MMribU
Works will be undertaken over the autumn and winter, so that the centre can emerge with a whole new look in time for Easter 2022. Businesses at Mermaid Quay will all remain open during construction and we are working to ensure that they, as well as visitors and neighbours, experience minimal disturbance while the work is taking place.
