Completion of Caerphilly Castle Scheduled Monument

We are very pleased to share completion images of our civil engineering and construction works at the spectacular Grade 1 listed scheduled monument Caerphilly Castle.  The works went extremely well, with our Encon civils team co-ordinating works with our client Cadw, archaeologists, and the project team Austin-Smith:Lord, Holloway Partnership, Ramboll and TC Consult Ltd.

The works undertaken will improve visitor experience and provided footpaths, ramps and steps to Inner Ward and Guard Rooms and associated retaining walls barriers, landscaping and drainage; whilst improving the site for events through the installation of lighting and electrical sockets. Alongside these works despite carrying out the works during a national pandemic, we provided a wide range of social value benefits, including supporting a local mental health charity, providing virtual work experience, trainee weeks, site tours and career films to schools and colleges across the Caerphilly and Gwent regions, recycling 97% of waste, and local supply chain opportunities.
