Onsite Work Placement at Cowbridge

At Encon, we’re proud to support young people as they explore careers in construction. We actively welcome work placements and are committed to helping future generations make informed decisions about their futures in the industry.

Owen Weeks, a Year 12 pupil at Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg with aspirations to attend university and pursue a career civil engineering recently completed a week-long work experience placement at our Cowbridge site.

As part of his introduction to the engineering and construction industry, Owen shadowed our Site Engineer, Daniel Cope. Throughout the week, he gained valuable insight into life on-site and was able to experience the wide range of career paths the construction sector offers.

By working through the health and safety procedures of an active site, Owen deepened his understanding of industry standards and now plans to obtain his CSCS card through a training programme.

“I would recommend that every student should have first-hand experiences of the workplace through work visits, work shadowing and/or work experience to help their exploration of career opportunities and expand their networks.”

A big thank you to Dan Cope and the entire Cowbridge team for their guidance and support in helping shape Owen’s journey and inspiring the next generation of construction professionals.
