Encon Construction were awarded the contract, as part of the South East Highways Framework. The contract was carried out in partnership with our client Cardiff Council, WRU and the project team Faithful + Gould, Grays Consulting Engineers and WSP. Well done to our civil engineering team and Project Manager, Mark Richards and CRC Christian Rees Carpentry for completing the finished works to such a high standard.
The contract involved liaising with Cardiff’s Harbour Master, as much of the work was over the River Taff in order to replace the original timber decking that wrapped around the Principality Stadium. We used approximately 4 miles of fibre reinforced plastic boards (FRPB), manufactured by Plura Polydeck. Polydeck’s FRPB product core is manufactured from 100% recycled plastic, and this project utilised around ¾ of a million recycled plastic bottles in the manufacturing process!
