Double Announcement! Phil Woodward retires passing on his legacy to our Construction Director Richard Miles who will step up to take on the role of Managing Director.
It is with sadness and joy, and an end of era that we announce the retirement of our Managing Director Phil Woodward. Phil set up Encon back in 2003 alongside our Commercial Director Liam Beattie. The early years saw Encon Construction develop a reputation in civil engineering delivering public and private sector projects. As the company grew, we began to diversify into construction projects and appointed Richard Miles to head up our Construction Division in 2012.
Phil now passes on his legacy to Richard Miles who will bring his 12 years at Encon and 40 years working in the construction industry to manage Encon’s future sustainable growth across a range of sectors including residential construction, health and social care, community facilities, retail, education, commercial building; infrastructure, industrial, waste to energy, airports and environmental enhancements.
Phil Woodward said “When I set up Encon Construction back in 2003, I could not have predicted where we would be today, from a company working out of a self-storage unit with 3 members of staff, to where we are now in our 20th year of operating. We now employ 45 direct staff, have a greatly expanded skill set, invested in plant/vehicles and company premises, opened a Bristol office, and have increased turnover year on year across both the civil engineering and building sectors. It is now time for me to go and enjoy the fruits of my labour and live life! I am delighted that Richard Miles has agreed to step in and take on the role of Managing Director, and lead from within, as he brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to the role. I will still be involved with Encon and will take on the role of Non-Executive Director to further support the growth of Encon into the future, and whilst it is with a slightly heavy heart that I step down as Managing Director, I step down knowing that Richard alongside our Directors and our team will take Encon to the next step and beyond.”
