Kirby Daniel Court Affordable Housing Scheme, Newport

Client: Pobl Group

The Kirby Daniel Court, Pill, Newport, is a development of 16 new homes and a bat house. The project was developed in partnership with our client the Pobl Group, GR Jones, Pentan Architects and Bradley Associates.

Prior to construction the plot was home to an unsightly and dilapidated older persons scheme, which Encon demolished prior to construction taking place. The houses were constructed using off-site manufactured timber frames, erected on site with a face brick envelope. Collaboration between Encon, Pobl, Castleoak timber frame and Pentan ensured maximum pre-fabrication off site, to reduce programme on site.

Community Benefits on the project included Honor Goodsite Site Safety Poster Competition, virtual poster prize giving, community materials donations, local Foodbank collection, traineeships and apprentice placements via Y Prentis.

Mark Trounce, Project Manager at Pobl Group said: “These new homes at Kirby Daniel Court are the latest step in our on-going commitment to the regeneration of Pill, and are excellent examples of our mission to build genuinely sustainable homes and create places where people want to live. We are extremely impressed with the quality of these homes and will be welcoming customers to their new homes in the coming weeks.”

Antonia John, Business Development and CSR Manager at Encon Construction said “It’s been a busy week at Encon completing our second project for the Pobl Group, and we are delighted to have handed over a scheme that has made a huge improvement to the local environment, whilst providing affordable homes for local people”.
