Encon Construction are extremely pleased to announce that we have been awarded the contract to carry out works to Millennium Walkway, as part of the South East Highways Framework. The contract is being carried out in partnership with our client Cardiff Council, and the project team Faithful and Gould, Grays Consulting Engineers and WSP.
Works commenced in March 2021 to replace the current timber decking system of Millennium Walkway, that wraps around the Principality Stadium adjacent to the River Taff. The current timber decking is being replaced utilising fibre reinforced plastic boards (FRPB), manufactured by Plura Polydeck. Polydeck’s FRPB product core is manufactured from 100% recycled plastic, and this project will utilise around ¾ of a million recycled plastic bottles in the manufacturing process!
