Encon was contracted to design and construct 2 waste facilities for Kelda Organic Energy. The first was for the construction of a 35,000 tonnes per annum anaerobic digestion facility off Rover Way in Cardiff.

The scope included:

  • Dealing with asbestos ground contamination
  • Piling
  • Reception Building
  • Tank substructures and superstructures
  • Reinforced concrete bund wall
  • Concrete hardstanding and access roads and drainage

Acting as principal contractor Encon was responsible for the liaison and co-ordination of the process installation up to commencement of cold commissioning. The second follow on contract was for the construction of a “green waste” composting facility at Lamby Way in Cardiff.
